If your life total can't change, spells and abilities that would normally cause you to gain or lose life still resolve while your life total can't change, but the life-gain or life-loss part simply has no effect

These are hard plastic shells that you can slide an individual card into to keep it safe from liquids, dents, or curling (foil curling is a big problem with Magic cards printed in the last few years)
The ping trigger is only 1 damage which ain't much when you're starting at 40 life, but it's quickly going to add up and I'd imagine Cindervines can regularly pump out 20+ damage in the span of a game
